Description

Single color remote LED dimmer controlled by wireless remote and uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to dim LED strips; most commonly with our 12Vdc LED Flex Strips.  The remote comes with a battery and easily connects to both the power supply and strips via 2.1mm male and female barrel jacks.  This dimmer has four different dynamic modes, speeds, intensity control, preset lighting levels and an on/off button.

Installation & Connection Instructions

The 12Vdc power-supply plugs into the input of the dimmer (labeled +5-24V-) and the output of the dimmer (labeled + LED -) plugs into the beginning of the strip. The plugs are a common center positive 2.1 barrel style, which mates well with most of our power-supplies or screw-in terminal plugs.

How does the output of the dimmer (RF Wireless Single Channel Dimming Controller) connect to the led strip? I'll be using beetle clips to connect 1 strip to another but I don't see how to connect the dimmer cable to a beetle clip.

BEST ANSWER: The output of the RF dimmer is a Male 2.1mm barrel jack. Full reels of strip come with the corresponding Female barrel jack at each end. Any cut length of strip we sell comes with the 2.1mm barrel jack at one end. To connect wires to the Male barrel jack on the controller, you can use the Screw-In Terminal plug (https://www.ledsupply.com/accessories/screw-in-terminal-power-plugs), Female, 2.1mm.

Will this dimmer still work to dim 12v strip lights with a "non dimmable" power supply such as the Meanwell APV series? Or do I still need a dimmable power supply like the PWM mode series? Thanks.
Mike ON 07 Sep, 2022
Your answer has been submitted for consideration
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will, this dimmer goes on the 12V side of the power supply so it basically pulses the output at a certain rate to dim and brighten.

Will this dimmer function with a dimmable power supply? Or will that cause issues?
Emily ON 13 Feb, 2024
Your answer has been submitted for consideration
BEST ANSWER: You never want to use both an AC dimmer and a DC controller in the same circuit as they will interfere with each other.

Can I just use a pot on the positive wire to a strip? If so, what size pot?
Steve ON 23 Jul, 2023
Your answer has been submitted for consideration
BEST ANSWER: The proper way to dim an LED Strip is via PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).  We have several options for LED strip dimmers here.  Putting a POT on the positive wire would work to a point, but you wouldn't have much dimming range efore the stirp just turned off.  Also, the POT would need to be rated for the full current/wattage of the LED strip you are dimming.

What frequency is the remote operating at? Does it interfere with other manufacturer RF? Specifically I have Sonoff RF remote operating at 433Mhz (which requires pairing to the receiving device).
ON 21 May, 2021
Your answer has been submitted for consideration
BEST ANSWER: These dimmers operate at 433.92Mhz, so it would likely interfere with your existing controller.

I want to use two maybe three of these to control lights in two or three sets of cabinets. Since the RF frequency is the same for all remotes/controllers, how far apart physically would one need to be from another so that they don't interfere with each other. In other words, I don't want to turn off or dim one and end up doing the same to another.

Does this remember the previous setting when the lights are turned on? If so, does the receiver remember the setting?
Larry ON 17 Jul, 2023
Your answer has been submitted for consideration
BEST ANSWER: The controller does remember the last setting when the lights are turned off with the controller.  The controller does not remember the last setting if the source voltage is disconnected from the controller.  If the source voltage is disconnected or turned off, the controller will revert to the default (Demo) setting when turned back on.
